My Story
A Houseful of soccer players…..What was it like growing up together? Did you all know you wanted to play soccer in college?
Growing up all playing soccer was like having built in training partners and the sibling rivalry and our competitive natures really pushed us all to get better. We all did other sports growing up and so college soccer, for me, wasn’t necessarily an end goal, but an ambition to keep playing the sport I loved.
How have each of you influenced one another (On the field or off)?
The motivation and support I receive from my siblings play a huge role in shaping my work ethic. We learn from one another’s strengths, weaknesses, and experiences, and each its brought each of us to where we are now. Seeing my siblings achieve great things makes me proud but also influences me to keep improving myself. Having siblings when I needed some extra encouragement is something I’m very grateful for.
How did Strikers shape you as a person?
Strikers and the soccer community in Missoula is one of the most supportive and uplifting environments one can find themselves in. The staff is comprised of genuine people who care about each player as a person. I started training with Natalie in middle school, which only fueled my desire to constantly get and made me realize how far I could go.
What was the most challenging part of the recruiting process?
The hardest part for me was going through the recruitment process during Covid. It felt rushed and unsure, but I think the most important thing to keep in mind when going through the process is that if you want it there is a place for everyone to play at the next level and it’s okay to take the time you need to find the right one for you. There’s a lot of options and it can be overwhelming, but it’s so important to take into consideration more than just athletics. Finding the best location and education is the most important part and athletics is just a bonus.
What do high school athletes not understand about college sports?
Playing at the collegiate level is a gift and not everyone gets that opportunity. It is hard work, but learning to love the process and smile through the pain is all part of growing.
What was the best part of playing college sports? What was the hardest part?
The best part of playing college sports is the travel, friendships and overall experiences are truly like no other. The hardest part is balance. As a freshman you’re exposed to so many new things and learning how to balance school, sports, and social life is part of the learning process.
