Competitive Program Commitment Overview

Playing in Strikers FC’s Competitive Program requires a significant time and travel commitment. All teams begin training in January, practicing at least two times per week. Some of our oldest and most competitive teams begin in December to prepare for the PacNW Tournament in Seattle (January) and will also attend an additional winter tournament in Las Vegas (TBD). All other competitive teams will participate in the Heartbreaker Cup, hosted by Strikers FC in February.

Starting in late March, training increases to three times per week as teams prepare for MYSA League play in April, although our youngest age group (U10) only trains twice a week . Families can expect games nearly every weekend, typically two matches per weekend (usually on Saturdays, in cities across Montana).

In addition, teams participate in 3–6 weekend tournaments throughout the spring season. Most teams finish their season by mid-June, but 5–8 teams often continue on to compete in regional and national tournaments during the summer.

A more detailed schedule, including training time commitment, tournaments, travel expectations, coaching assignments and team fees will be provided to each team before players are asked to accept their team placement. Please keep in mind a detailed schedule for practice times and days will not be published until teams are fully established. For winter practice schedules this will happen by the middle of December and mid November for those teams that will start training in December. Game schedules typically do not come out until the beginning of March.

THE DETAILS
While making team selections, our coaches and evaluators have deliberated with great care. We take much into account when making decisions on placements for each player.
First, we always keep Strikers FCs' Purpose and Core Values at the heart of all decisions. Purpose: To Foster Personal Growth through Soccer.
Our Core values: P.R.I.D.E. | One Club, One Family | (Prioritize the People, Be positively Relentless, Strive for Inclusivity, Prioritize Development, and expect and demand Excellence).
All of these values have to be balanced among all athletes, especially within the context of each age group. We do not take these decisions lightly and understand the impact selections have on players. It is our hope that as parents you can help facilitate productive conversations with your children about their selection as opportunities for personal growth. Our coaches look forward to helping each of our players develop as people and soccer players this season.
