Montana's largest youth soccer club since 1982

BITTERROOT TEAM INFORMATION
We are accepting players born in 2017 through 2011
(Plus a few 2010s will be accepted and possibly a few 2018s)
For Spring 2026, we hope to form separate girls and boys teams for players born from 2017 through 2010/2011.
Playing in Bitterroot Strikers FC’s Travel Program requires a meaningful time and travel commitment. We are excited to have your player join one of our teams!
-
Training:
All Bitterroot travel teams begin indoor training in mid-January, practicing at least once per week in Hamilton. Starting in late March, practices increase to two or three times per week as teams prepare for MYSA League play in April. -
Games:
Families can expect games nearly every weekend during the spring season (usually 6-8 weekends of play with tournaments and league games) — typically two matches per Saturday in cities across Montana. While we work to schedule as many games as possible in Missoula, Stevensville, or Hamilton, some travel to Polson, Helena, or Kalispell, etc will be required. Please note that league schedules are managed by the Montana Youth Soccer Association (MYSA), so while we can make requests, we do not have full control over locations or match times. -
Tournaments:
Each team participates in at least two weekend-long tournaments during the spring season. Most teams finish play by early to mid-June.Winter practice schedules are typically available by mid-December. Game schedules are usually released by early March.

If your child wants to be guaranteed a spot on a Bitterroot Spring Travel Team, they must register for and attend their Team Selection Night.
Team Selections function much like tryouts — they help us determine which teams we can form and how many coaches we’ll need. While our goal is not to cut players, these sessions are essential for building balanced, competitive teams and identifying if any players might benefit from playing up or down an age group.
In most cases, players will stay within their correct birth year, but as our program grows, Team Selection Nights are an important part of creating the most accurate and fair team placements possible. Sometimes we have to form teams out of two birth years, depending on how many players register for travel soccer with us.
Spring 2026: U.S. Soccer will continue using birth year placement for team formation.
Fall 2026: We plan to transition to grade-year team placement, in alignment with updated U.S. Soccer guidelines.
If you can't attend tryouts, please register anyway and click on the "I need to make up my tryout" box in Team Selection Registration.

PURPOSE AND CORE VALUES

While making team selections, our coaches and evaluators have deliberated with great care. We take much into account when making decisions on placements for each player.
First, we always keep Strikers FCs' Purpose and Core Values at the heart of all decisions. Purpose: To Foster Personal Growth through Soccer.
Our Core values: P.R.I.D.E. | One Club, One Family | (Prioritize the People, Be positively Relentless, Strive for Inclusivity, Prioritize Development, and expect and demand Excellence).
All of these values have to be balanced among all athletes, especially within the context of each age group. We do not take these decisions lightly and understand the impact selections have on players. It is our hope that as parents you can help facilitate productive conversations with your children about their selection as opportunities for personal growth. Our coaches look forward to helping each of our players develop as people and soccer players this season.
